Hopefully this thread can help someone in the future. I cannot find the page online to download it manually either. I have tried canceling the downloads and downloading just the package by itself and it does not work. Please see for reference on the different version numbers of Windows 10.Īnyway I am happy I have found the source of the problem. The issue is that the microsoft store page for Visual C++ 2015 UWP Desktop Runtime Package appears to be bugged, and I cannot download it. get installed between what should be the same core product versions but oh well. The merge modules are installed by default as part of a C++ install in Visual Studio 2017 and Visual Studio 2015. Download the 32-Bit or 64-Bit version, double click, and follow the prompts. These components are required to run C++ applications that are developed using Visual Studio 2015 and link dynamically to Visual C++ libraries. Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package comes as a self-installing executable. So problem solved! Not sure why different Windows SDK headers/libs/etc. In Visual Studio 20, merge module files are part of an optional installable component named C++ Redistributable MSMs in the Visual Studio Installer. The Visual C++ Redistributable Packages install run-time components of Visual C++ libraries. So by installing Windows SDK 14393 I end up with the same MSVC configuration as I would get by install Visual Studio (of course sans the Visual Studio parts!) When I compare my Visual Studio 2015 system to the Build Tools 2015 + Windows SDK system I see the problem - the Build Tools 2015 installs the Windows SDK for version 10240 whereas Visual Studio 2015 installs version 14393. However if I install the Windows SDK (along with the Windows Debugging Tools) the problem disappears. With Qt 5.8 and Build Tools 2015 (default settings) I get the error. So I just setup a clean environment and tried to reproduce.
